Khan El Khalili is a famous bazaar and market in the centre of historic Cairo, Egypt. It is located in the heart of Cairo’s Islamic part, near the famous street of Muizz. The bazaar was founded by Jaharkas Al-Khalili in the Mamluk period to be the centre of trade in the city.

Since the bazaar’s establishment, Khan El Khalili has been one of Cairo’s major tourist attractions for both Egyptians and tourists. It is home to many Egyptian artisans and vendors who sell jewelry, handicrafts, clothes, souvenirs, carpets, lanterns, and oriental musical instruments. Khan El Khalili also has many traditional coffee shops, restaurants, and street food vendors. El Fishawy and Naguib Mahfouz are the most ancient and famous coffee shops in Khan El Khalili.
